"STATE OF SIR ELLIS KADOORIEI
I have the honour, under instructions from the Executors at Shanghai of the late Sir Ellia Kadoorie of Hongkong, to notify you that the late Sir Ellis Kadoorie by his ill dated the 28th
of April 1921 bequeathed the residue of his estate in trust to be divided equally along (1) the British Government for the purpose of building a school
or schools in Palestine or esopotamia (2) Eleazer Silas Kadoorie and (3) the Anglo-Jewish Association. The deceased died on the 24th of February 1922 at Hongkong and probate of the said All with one codicil thereto in respect of the property in China of the deceased was granted by H.P.M. Supreme Court for China on the 29th of May 1922 to Charles Sassoon Gubbay and Simon Abraham Levy, two of the exedutors named in the Will, power being reserved to grant a like probate to the other executors. The executors are anxious to ascertain who should be deemed to represent the British Government in this matter, authorised to receive communications and accept services of notices etc. relating to the estate. I may mention that one of the questions arising out of the administration of the estate is whether the executors should give effect to a promise made by Sir Ellis Kadoorie to the Shanghai unicipal Council to defray half the cost of the construction of an assembly Hall in connection with the Ellis Kadoorie School at Shanghai.
